With many big brands jumping into the Metaverse hype, it’s no surprise that lifestyle brand Playboy is making inroads into the Web3 space. Playboy will bring its iconic creation, the Playboy Mansion, to the sandbox metaverse.
The Playboy Mansion is nicknamed “MetaMansion” in the Metaverse, Sandbox revealed in a tweet.
“Anybunny home? We’re teaming up with none other than…. @playboy!” the official Sandbox account tweeted. “Together, we will be creating a Playboy MetaMansion social game inside #TheSandbox with #NFT collectibles & special experiences for the Rabbitar @PlayboyNFTs community!”
The sandbox announcement revealed that the MetaMansion would host mini-games in the Metaverse and features to host gatherings and exclusive social events.

The collaboration builds on Playboy’s previous attempt to establish itself within Web3 via non-fungible token (NFT) collections in conjunction with the creative platform Centerfold.
Playboy also announced that it would release NFTs focusing on the brand’s seven-decade history.
“We’re thrilled to work with The Sandbox and its best-in-class design and development team to build a premium, customized Playboy gaming and social experience in the metaverse,” said Rachel Webber, Chief Brand and Strategy Officer at Playboy.“The opportunity to create the environment in a way that more people can step into now in a virtual space, and to do it in a really contemporary way is something that we’re really excited to bring to life.”
“Playboy has been at the forefront of innovation in the entertainment, gaming, art, and celebrity industries for close to seven decades, and The Sandbox continues this legacy by providing a dynamic platform for the next generation of creativity,” she added.
The COO and co-founder of Sandbox, Sebastien Borget, responded to Webber’s enthusiasm by saying, “We’re pleased to bring its rich archive of content into the metaverse and enable true fans to become virtual neighbors of this iconic brand during a future upcoming LAND sale in Q3 2022.”
Although Playboy only recently joined Metaverse, it was initially one of the pioneering companies to enter the Web3 market in the spring of 2021. It launched its first NFT collection, Liquid Summer, which sold out in under three minutes.
Playboy followed Liquid Summer with the NFT Playboy Rabbitars collection, which debuted in October 2021.
