Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has caused quite a stir online and given people an idea of what to dress up for Halloween.
Dahmer’s popularity grew rapidly, with people eager to dress up as the infamous serial killer.
However, not everyone is happy with the series.
An online retailer has announced that it will stop selling Dahmer costumes.
eBay on the ban
An eBay spokesperson confirmed the closure in an email to CNN.
They also said the site would remove any hints of Jeffrey Dahmer costumes.
The platform will remove costumes, citing its “Violent and Violent Crimes Policy.”
eBay’s policy states:
“Listings that promote or glorify violence or violence acts, or are associated with individuals who are notorious for committing violent acts, are not allowed.”
eBay’s decision to ban Dahmer costumes was not new.

The Dahmer series
The Netflix Dahmer series has sparked a lot of debate.
The majority of reviewers criticized the depiction of serial killers.
CNN’s Sara Stewart suggested that despite the show’s focus on victims, Dhamer ended up focusing on the insensitive.
She highlights out how some of the victims’ families said the show did not consult them before the release.
Evan Peters portrays Jeffrey Dahmer on the show, which has grown in popularity.
After its release, the Dahmer Show drew more than 196 million viewer hours per week.
Jeffrey Dahmer
Jeffrey Dahmer was a real-life serial killer.
He dismembered seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991.
The majority of Dahmer’s victims were black.
In 1992, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Two years later, Dahmer was beaten to death by a fellow inmate.
The costumes
On Saturday afternoon, any search for “Jeffrey Dahmer’s suit” on eBay still showed a few results.
Clear glasses like those of Peters and the real Dahmer are still up on the site.
Other online retailers like Etsy sell kits for a Jeffrey Dahmer costume.
The items listed on Etsy include:
- Blonde wigs
- Clear glasses
- Orange jumpsuits
Gymnast Simone Biles has spoken out against the costume and vented her frustration on Twitter last week, writing:
“Put the jeffrey dahmer [sic] costumes back in the closet.”
